My husband saw a video on a review of this cheese and was super interested in trying it. I Googled where to purchase near me and found cheesyplace.com. Purchased it as a Father's Day gift.

Tête de Moine Cheese

The Facts

Country: Switzerland
Milk Type: Unpasteurized Cow
Age:  3-6 Months

Tasting Notes:

The cylindrical shaped Tête de Moine Cheese, which means "monk's head", has been produced in Switzerland for more than 8 centuries.

This unique cheese is traditionally shaved into thin, rosette shaped slices rather than being sliced by hand with a knife. Shaving the cheese in this fashion allows its flavours to fully develop.

A special knife called a "Girolle" is used to simply shave the cheese from the top, thin layer by thin layer.

The delicate cheese rosettes that result melt in your mouth. The texture is dense, with an intense, fruity, sweet flavour.

Available in whole or half wheels.
