Cheeses of Burgundy

The l’Ami du Chambertin I ordered from cheesyplace.com was great. The cheeses from Burgundy are my favorite, and this l’Ami du Chambertin ranks as equal to the other great Burgundy cheese: epoisses. I will certainly order again. In addition, the service was excellent.

Finally!

Finally! A washed rind cheese that tastes as strong as it smells. I love a good stinky cheese, and this is one of the smelliest (think Limburger) ...but the flavour of this is amazing, rich and indeed full-bodied! Much runnier and creamier than I imagined too, which is always a good thing. Goes to the top of my list for reorder. If you're a fan of the Chateau de Bourgogne, you'll enjoy this one!

A true Burgundian classic, L'Ami du Chambertin is a washed-rind cheese inspired by the famous Époisses. Its rind is regularly washed in Marc de Bourgogne, a local pomace brandy, which gives it a bold aroma and a deep, savoury flavour. The interior is luscious and creamy, developing a gooey texture as it ripens. This cheese is not for the faint of heart but rewards those who love strong, full-bodied cheeses with a complex and indulgent experience. Best enjoyed with a glass of red Burgundy and a simple slice of rustic bread.
