Absolutely love this cheese

Best mild crumbly cheese. Took me right back to childhood in England. This was always a favourite in our house. Great with branston or piccalilli or delicious just on its own. Love it!

"I thought you were talking to me, Sir. Mr. Wensleydale, that's my name."

Monty Python fans will recognize this line. Frankly, the cheese shop sketch was the only reason I though to give Wensleydale cheese a try. First of all, it's perfectly edible. No surprises with ingrained ball bearings or anything. Secondly, it's surprisingly mild. Normally, I expect a cheese off the beaten path to be odd. Nope. this is main-stream, mild, very pleasant.
I recommend it unreservedly.

It has been 49 years since I tasted Wensleydale cheese and the flavour brought it all back to me. Thank you.

Wensleydale Cheese

The Facts

Country: England
Milk: Pasteurized cow
Age: 6 months+

Tasting Notes:

Wensleydale Cheese is a very traditional English cheese with an almost cheddar-like consistency.

A bit moist and crumbly with a fairly sharp, acidic bite. Completely different than our Canadian cheddar. Now made by many commercial creameries throughout the UK.

Pair with a Sauvignon Blanc.
