Le Sangle – 250g

A rare washed-rind gem wrapped in spruce bark from the Jura Mountains.

If you’re looking for something soft and rustic, Le Sangle is it. This French cheese is made in the Jura region near the Swiss border, where traditional cheesemaking thrives. Modeled after Vacherin Mont d'Or, Le Sangle is a seasonal soft cheese with a striking presentation and a rich, woodsy aroma.

Tasting Notes:

Le Sangle is wrapped in a strip of spruce bark, which imparts a gentle resinous note to the cheese as it matures. Inside, the texture is unctuous and spoonable—perfect for digging into with a crusty baguette. Expect deep umami flavours, hints of garlic, earthy mushrooms, and a tangy, washed-rind funk. As it warms to room temperature, the paste becomes almost liquid and luxuriously creamy.

Pairing Notes:

Pair Le Sangle with a dry white wine from the Jura like Savagnin or a slightly chilled light red like Pinot Noir. It also goes beautifully with artisanal lagers or farmhouse ales. Serve with toasted walnuts, fig jam, or boiled potatoes for a traditional French mountain-style experience.
